Haltiwanger goes to Cardinals in Rule 5 DraftRussell Haltiwanger (Simpsonville/Hillcrest/Newberry College) was selected from the Kansas City Royals by the St. Louis Cardinals in the AAA phase of the Rule 5 draft on Thursday. Haltiwanger was the 29th-round pick of Cincinnati in the 2005 draft. The Reds traded him to Kansas City for Jeff Keppinger in 2007. Haltiwanger was 4-1 with 1 save, a 3.83 ERA and a 40 strikeouts in 56.1 innings in 35 relief appearances for Wilmington, Del., (Carolina, High-A) in 2008.
