Three state players on preseason All-America team
College of Charleston's Brandon Sizemore is the first-team second baseman on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's preseason All-America team for 2009. Coastal Carolina's David Anderson made the third team at first base, and The Citadel's Sonny Meade was a third-team outfielder.

    MLB Network coming to Charter Cable
    It's not college baseball, but it's baseball. After getting home from work early Tuesday morning I discovered a test of the MLB Network running on Channel 345 on Charter Cable of Greenville. A scroll across the bottom of the screen says the channel will go fulltime at 6 p.m. Jan. 1. Woo-hoo!

    Tigers sign Everett
    Former University of South Carolina shortstop Adam Everett has signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Tigers. Everett transferred to USC from N.C. State when Ray Tanner left the Wolfpack to become coach of the Gamecocks.
