Baseball season is under way!OK, no South Carolina teams were involved, but the college baseball season has begun. LSU Shreveport won a doubleheader over Mobile, 14-8 and 22-1,in NAIA Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play Friday.

If you're hungry to listen to some baseball, the series finale is set for 1 p.m. (EST) today and the following link is supposed to provide an audio feed.

If you'd prefer in-person baseball, USC Beaufort and USC Salkehatchie open their seasons next Saturday at home. Southern Wesleyan is USC Beaufort's foe.

  • Midnight madness, baseball styleThe first day NCAA Division I teams are supposed to play is Feb. 20. Baseball America reports Central Michigan and Florida Gulf Coast University will get a jump on other teams, with first pitch scheduled for 12:01 a.m. in Fort Myers, Fla. The teams will finish the "doubleheader" at 8 p.m. that night.

  • Preseason all-star gameThe Sun Conference has a preseason all-star game today at 1 p.m. in Daytona Beach, Fla. Three USC Beaufort players are on the roster. I can find no link to audio or live stats coverage.
