DII finals come to North Carolina
Good news for fans of state NCAA Division II teams. The 2009 and 2010 Division II championship tournament will be held in Cary, N.C., near Raleigh. Defending DII champion Mount Olive is the host school for the event, played at the USA Baseball Training Complex. Last year's tournament was played near St. Louis.

    Mauldin High's Ben Carlson and Chris Cox have signed to play baseball for Spartanburg Methodist College, The Greenville News reports. The note, and a picture of the players, is included in the high school commitments story linked below.

    West coast leads strength of schedule
    Boyd Nation has posted his Strength of Schedule figures for 2009. The first 24 teams, and 28 of the first 30, are Pac-10 or other teams from the West Coast. Clemson (44th) and South Carolina (56th) are the only S.C. teams in the top 100.
