USC posts photo gallery of new stadiumThe University of South Carolina has posted a photo gallery showing the updated status of its new baseball stadium. On USC message boards, fans continue to express concern about the parking situation, but the stadium itself looks like it will be top-notch.

  • Former Greenville Red Sox manager diesMatt Sczesny, manager of the Greenville Red Sox of the Western Carolinas League in 1967-68, died Sunday in New York. He was 76. Sczesny was a Red Sox farmhand before he became a manager and later became a scout, signing such players as Mo Vaughn and Bob Stanley.

    Winkelsas to speak
    Joe Winkelsas will speak at the First Pitch Dinner for USC Salkehatchie baseball Jan. 29 in Allendale. Winkelsas, a former USCS pitcher, went on to pitch in the majors for the Braves and the Brewers. For ticket information, call Indians coach Bubba Dorman or Marian Easterlin at 803-584-3446. USCS opens its season Jan. 31 with a doubleheader against Walters State

    Limestone coach honored
    Limestone College coach Chico Lombardo is being inducted into the Francis Marion athletic hall of fame. Lombardo was a two-time all-district baseball player for the Patriots.
