Elon is the preseason choice to win the Southern Conference champion in preseason polls by the league coaches and the media. In the coaches poll Charleston is picked second, The Citadel fourth, Furman eighth and Wofford 10th. In the media poll, Charleston is third, The Citadel fourth, Furman eighth and Wofford 10th.
Simpson picked
College of Charleston Jesse Simpson is the preseason pick of SoCon coaches to be pitcher of the year. He's also a first-team preseason all-SoCon pick, along with teammate Brandon Sizemore at second base, Furman's Reese Wade at designated hitter, Wofford's Michael Gilmartin at shortstop and The Citadel's Sonny Meade in the outfield.
