Colvin honored
Former Clemson star Tyler Colvin made a dandy defensive play in center field for the Chicago Cubs Tuesday night to rob Milwaukee's Ryan Braun of a home run. It was named MLB.com's top play of the day and also made the ESPN highlights.

  • Team USA reaches finals
    Team USA has clinched a spot in Sunday's finals of the World Cup with a 6-3 win over Puerto Rico on Wednesday. Ex-USC player Justin Smoak was 0-for-3. The Americans play Cuba at 2 p.m. Thursday and the Netherlands at 1 p.m. Friday, then play in the championship game at 10 a.m. Sunday. The game will be televised on the MLB Network (channel 320 on Charter cable in the Upstate).

  • Fire Ants move on
    USC Sumter reports 11 players will be playing at four-year schools in 2010. The school listed B.J. Hyatt as headed for Kennesaw State, but the poster below reports that Hyatt actually signed with the Houston Astros, who drafted him in the fourth round.
