Gilmore honored
Coastal Carolina coach Gary Gilmore has been selected for induction into the Salem-Roanoke (Va.) Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a standout high school player in the area before his college and pro playing careers. The ceremony is set for Feb. 14

    Former USC infielder Adam Everett and ex-Clemson infielder Khalil Greene have made Baseball America's list of the top 10 prospects for their respective teams in the past decade. Everett was ranked No. 4 among Houston Astros prospects and Greene No. 4 Among San Diego Padres prospects.

  • Ole Miss cuts two
    Infielder Evan Frazar and outfielder Zach Lowery, two freshmen expected to have an impact for Mississippi in 2010, have been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

  • Also, Rebels assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Rob Reinstetle has resigned effective immediately. He was an assistant at College of Charleston for a couple of seasons, among other places.

    Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com offers a condition update on Georgia freshman Chance Veazey, who was paralyzed below the waist in an on-campus traffic accident in October.

    No. 1 draft pick in 2009 Stephen Strasburg has donated $141,000 to his old college program, San Diego State. Strasburg signed a four-year, $15.1 million deal with the Washington Nationals.
