North Greenville took a pair of wins in dramatic fashion Saturday to win the National Christian College Athletic Association World Series in Mason, Ohio.
Coach Travis Henson's Crusaders (46-14) got four consecutive two-out singles in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Southeastern 3-2. Tournament MVP Adam Taylor provided the winning hit.
That sent North Greenville into a game with defending champion Bluefield, which needed to beat the Crusaders twice to repeat as champion. Bluefield took leads of 3-1 and 5-1, but North Greenville scored two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to force extra innings.
Each team scored a run in the eighth, but North Greenville pushed across a run in the 10th and Brian Giles retired the side to wrap up the title with a 7-6 victory.
Taylor and Giles were joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Derek Fulmer and Drew Provence. Henson was named NCCAA coach of the year.
