Provence national pitcher of year
North Greenville's Drew Provence was named national pitcher of the year by the National Christian College Athletic Association. He and teammate Markus Duckworth also were named to the NCAA All-American team.

    Newberry College has announced it is not renewing the contract of head coach Bob Rikeman after an 18-30 record in 2010. This is the change I mentioned last week that I had seen rumors about.

  • Benedict finishes fifth
    Benedict finished fifth in the final BlackCollegeBaseball.com poll of the season for NCAA Division II and NAIA teams. West Virginia State finished at No. 1.

    Jeremy Mills of ESPN.com suggests South Carolina will get the No. 8 national seed and host a regional including The Citadel. He pegs Coastal Carolina for the fifth seed, with Clemson going there. College of Charleston is slotted for a regional at Georgia Tech.
