Peach Belt honors announced
Francis Marion pitcher Don Sandifer was named Peach Belt Conference freshman of the year as part of the all-conference team. Sandifer, teammate Barrett Kleinknecht and Nick Aranas and Bill Rice of USC Aiken were first-team selections.

  • Academic All-District teams set
    ESPN the Magazine and COSIDA have announce their 2010 academic all-district teams. State players named to the University division first team for District III were Austin Fleet (Coastal Carolina), Matt Leeds (College of Charleston) and Tyler Cook (USC Upstate). Coastal's Chance Gilmore was a second-team choice. In the college division, first-teamers were Gary Asbill (USC Aiken) Derek Hipp (Anderson) and Alex Lee (Francis Marion). Lee began his career at Clemson. Preston Shuey of Francis Marion was named to the second team.

    Rivals.com has taken its weekly crack at projecting the NCAA Tournament field. It has South Carolina as the No. 6 national seed, with The Citadel one of the visitors to Columbia. It has Coastal Carolina as the No. 8 seed, with Clemson and College of Charleston bound for Conway.
