USC Beaufort's Brandon Collins, R.J. Neal, Spencer Jackson and Adam Miller were first-team selections for the All-Sun Conference team. Teammates David O'Neil, Larry Perry and Kyle McCullough were second-team choices.

Seven state players up for DII national award
Seven players from state NCAA Division II schools are candidates for the first Tino Martinez Award, to be presented to the player deemed the best in Division II baseball.
State players are Corey Bryant of Benedict, William Buzhardt and Bryan Fogle of Erskine, Barrett Kleinknecht of Francis Marion, Drew Provence of North Greenville and Nick Aranas and Bill Rice of USC Aiken. Martinez was a standout at DII University of Tampa before be became a major leaguer.
Motter a quarterfinalist
Coastal Carolina's Taylor Motter is one of 25 quarterfinalists for the Brooks Wallace Awards, presented to the player deemed the best college shortstop in the country.
4 state pitchers quarterfinalists
Asher Wojciechowski of The Citadel, Anthony Meo and Cody Wheeler of Coastal Carolina and Blake Cooper of South Carolina are among 25 quarterfinalists for the pitcher of the year award presented by the College Baseball Foundation.
Wittels ties Adkins
Garrett Wittels of Florida International hit safely in his 41st straight game on Saturday, tieing former Clemson star Rusty Adkins, among others for the fifth-longest streak in NCAA Division I history. I can remember reading of Adkins' exploits when I was a teenager in the mid-1960s. The DI record if 58 games by Robin Ventura of Oklahoma State.
Coaching change rumored
I've seen chatter on a couple of message boards that a head coaching change could be announced for one school in state as soon as this week. The school referenced has no mention of a vacancy on its site.
