I realize my previous epistle was pretty long, but I've thought of some additional things, some of which may or may not encourage you to take a trip to the College World Series some year.
... During one of the delays in the South Carolina-Oklahoma game, we shared a picnic table with a nice family from about two hours away that attends the CWS regularly. I knew, of course, about the replacement stadium for Rosenblatt being built in downtown Omaha. They told me that the AAA Omaha Royals, current tenants at Rosenblatt, are also building a stadium in the suburbs. Perhaps the Royals don't like the extended road trip in June to make room for the CWS.
... I wish there were beach ball detectors at the gates at Rosenblatt so we wouldn't be subjected to that throughout the games. The denizens of the bleachers love it when an outfielder beats an usher to a beach ball on the field and tosses it back into the stands. Ushers pop the beach ball and remove it.
... The Sunday Omaha World Herald had an awesome full-page photo of Florida's Matt den Dekker making his Willie Mays/Jim Edmunds over-the-shoulder, back-to-home-plate catch against UCLA on Saturday.
... You've probably seen and heard the routine when a foul ball hits the screen behind home plate. The screen goes up over the seating area, so many balls will roll back down onto the field. There's a door in the backstop where a ball girl runs out and tries to catch the ball -- usually without success -- as it rolls off the screen. Each failure is met with a loud chorus of boos from the fans. Late in the USC/Oklahoma game, the young lady fell while trying to make a catch -- drawing a large cheer.
... There was a Christian group handing out free bottled water as a witnessing tool outside the stadium. I hope some of the takers read the message on the label.
... If they played the loathsome "Sweet Caroline" during the USC/Oklahoma game, I -- thankfully -- missed it. I did hear it during the TCU/UCLA game.
... Zesto's, a legendary burger/ice cream joint up the street from the stadium, is on my "to do" list, as is Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo across the street from the stadium. It was a great zoo in 1975 and I'm sure it's better. Plans are for the zoo to expand to take over the Rosenblatt property.
... We ate at Gorat's restaurant in Omaha, where billionaire Warren Buffett goes for steak when he's in town. The prime rib was tremendous.

Rudy,
You might also try King Kong for a burger. Cascio's Steak House is also a neat old place. Still trying to find great pizza, but Rio's is not bad.
Thanks! Cascio's is on the list.
