The City of Mauldin honored second baseman Scott Wingo of College World Series champion South Carolina with a proclamation during Monday's city council meeting. Mayor Don Godbey made the presentation. Wingo was one of the Gamecocks' offensive leaders the first month of the season and played solid defense throughout. He also scored the winning run in the 11th inning of the decisive 2-1 victory over UCLA in the final CWS game at Rosenblatt Stadium.
Heath rejoins Cougars
Former College of Charleston assistant Matt heath has rejoined the Cougars' staff after a stint as a scout for the Houston Astros. Heath played at LSU.
