Ash Lawson, a regional crosschecker for the San Diego Padres, has been named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Tennessee. He replaces Bradley LeCroy, a Walhalla native and former Clemson player. The Tennessee release says LeCroy left to pursue another coaching opportunity.
LeCroy is believed to be a candidate to replace Tom Riginos as an assistant coach at Clemson. Comments by LeCroy in the Tennessee release suggest he could be headed back to the Upstate.
A Clemson spokesman said in an e-mail Friday that there was no news forthcoming on a possible replacement for Riginos, who left to become head coach at Winthrop.
