The University of South Carolina made the official announcement that Jerry Meyers will return to the baseball program as assistant head coach. Several sources had reported the move over the weekend.
Meyers was pitching coach at USC until 2004, when he became head coach at Old Dominion.
Meyers replaces Mark Calvi as the USC assistant who will work with pitchers. Calvi left to become head coach in waiting at South Alabama.
Ironically, some USC fans were critical of Calvi in his early years because the pitching numbers were not in line with some of the better USC staffs under Meyers. But Calvi's staff was the backbone of USC's NCAA title run this spring.
