USC visits Governor's mansion
The University of South Carolina baseball team visited the Governor's Mansion Monday and was presented the Gamecock flag that flew over the S.C. Statehouse after USC won the College World Series.

    The College of Charleston plays its fall World Series beginning Friday.

    Wofford was scheduled to begin its three-game fall World Series on Wednesday. Games are also set for Thursday and Friday.

  • Fundraiser set for Barbary
    Former Clemson player and Easley High coach Eddie Barbary is fighting colon cancer and some friends and former players are planning a fundraiser to help. The event is set for 5 p.m. Nov. 20 at the old Simpsonville Mill Gymnasium. Barbary lettered at Clemson from 1965-67, earning all-ACC honors in 1966. His dad, Red Barbary, was a legendary textile league player and also had a brief stint with the American League's Washington Senators in 1943. Eddie's son, Travis, was a star at Spartanburg Methodist and the University of Virginia. After a brief minor-league career, he went to work in the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system. He is Minor League Catching Coordinator for the Dodgers.
