I didn't get to cover that many games when Coach Wilhelm was still at Clemson, but one thing apparent was he was brutally honest in his opinions and not afraid the share them.
He also didn't like any perception that Clemson got any home cooking from the umpires. At least twice, former players say, he argued with umpires over calls that went in Clemson's favor.
I wish I'd gotten a chance to know him better. He was one of a kind and will be missed.
