As you've probably already heard, Cleveland Indians Hall of Famer Bob Feller died Wednesday night at age 92. He was another member of The Greatest Generation, missing 3 1/2 seasons in his prime years to serve in the Navy in World War II.
As great as he was as a player, we shouldn't forget his service to help keep our country free.
Game 7 of the 1960 World Series
I had to work Wednesday night, so I didn't get to see the MLB Network's presentation of Game 7 of the 1960 World Series between the Yankees and Pirates.
I did record it, but haven't watched it all yet. I saw about the first five innings of the late-night replay as I was getting ready to go to sleep.
It's a treat on so many levels, from seeing Forbes Field to seeing the umpires in the suits and ties to seeing players like Mantle and Clemente in their prime to listening to the calls of Bob Prince and Mel Allen.
One tidbit I learned: Beer wasn't sold in Forbes Field at that time. I never would have guessed that.
I remember watching the game after getting home from school, but the only play I really remember is Bill Mazeroski's home run to win it and his circling the bases as he was mobbed by fans.
If you didn't record it, I hope you get a chance to enjoy a replay sometime.

I saw part of this game. It was a little strange hearing them say Bob Clementee (phonetic) rather than Roberto Clementay (phonetic).
