Sorry I'm a little late updating things. I was out of town on assignment for my real job, then went to ceremonies and a drop-in honoring friend and classmate Mike Phillips' induction into the Travelers Rest High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

DI teams begin practice
Friday was the first day NCAA Division I teams could begin preseason baseball workouts. Here are some links to coverage:

    Clemson is the pick to the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division and overall titles according to a vote of league head coaches.

    Six players from Benedict and three from Claflin were named first-team preseason all-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in voting by league coaches. Two more players from each school were second-team choices.

  • Bertman to speak at Upstate Diamond Classic
    Skip Bertman, who coached LSU to five College World Series titles, will be the featured speaker at the 14th annual Upstate Diamond Classic Feb. 17 at the Carolina First Center. The event benefits the Furman baseball program.
