USC Upstate is picked to finish 11th in the Atlantic Sun Conference baseball standings this season according to a preseason poll of league coaches. Florida Gulf Coast and Mercer finished in a tie for first in the poll.
No Spartans are on the A-Sun's preseason all-conference team.

The Citadel is using an online media guide this season instead of the traditional printed media guide.
SEC teams will have visible pitch clocks
The NCAA has instituted speedup rules - including a 20-second pitch clock when no runners are on base - for 2011. The Southeastern Conference has announced all member schools will have pitch clocks viewable by fans. A Clemson spokesman said there would not be a visible pitch clock at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. A Furman spokesman said he was not sure if there would be a viewable pitch clock at Latham Stadium. The speedup protocol follows.
Warriors have kids days
Southern Wesleyan has announced four "Kids Days" during the 2011 season. The first is Saturday when the Warriors face Toccoa Falls.
