ACC sets tournament format for 2014
The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced its baseball tournament format beginning in 2014. Following the Southeastern Conference's lead this past season, the ACC Tournament will expand from eight to 10 teams. It is dropping round-robin play - a smart move in my eyes - for a double-elimination format until the semifinal round on Saturday.

Buccaneers set Fall World Series
Charleston Southern will hold its Fall World Series this weekend with games Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at noon and Sunday at 2 p.m. The school also recently held its Scout Day.

TheDiamondProspects.com reports several commitments involving state players, including Spartanburg Methodist pitcher Jimmy Lindberg's decision to attend College of Charleston.

* Maryland Baltimore County will play in one of the several early season tournaments hosted by Coastal Carolina.
* Alabama has announced its 2013 schedule, but does not play South Carolina.
