Palka a preseason all-American
Former Greer High star Daniel Palka of Georgia Tech was named second-team designated hitter on Baseball America's preseason all-American team announced today. There are no players from state schools on the three-team list. A junior, Palka has hit 12 home runs each of his first two seasons with the Yellow Jackets. He has a .300 career average.

Coker as posted a scene-setter for the beginning of its 2013 season. The Cobras open with doubleheaders at Chowan Saturday and Sunday.
