Gray honored
Erskine pitcher Heath Gray, a Byrnes High product, on Tuesday was named Conference Carolinas pitcher of the week and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Southeast Region pitcher of the week. Gray has opened the season with back-to-back complete-game shutouts.

Grady, Stoner cited
Lander's Patrick Grady was named Peach Belt Conference player of of the week while Jeffrey Stoner of Francis Marion earned the pitcher of the week nod. In addition, Grady earned the NCBWA Southeast Region player of the week selection.



Coastal set for season
Coastal Carolina has published a preview for the beginning of its season and a note to fans that Saturday's game in Myrtle Beach will be played near the staging area for the Myrtle Beach Marathon.

USC, Clemson, Coastal pegged for regionals
South Carolina will be a No. 1 seed and Clemson and Coastal Carolina will be No. 2 seeds in the 2013 NCAA Tournament according to CollegeBaseballDaily.com's preseason projection of the regional field.

Gamecocks 12th, Chanticleers 16th
CollegeBaseballToday.com's Eric Sorenson has selected a preseason top 25 list of college teams for Athlon's baseball magaine. North Carolina is No. 1, South Carolina No. 12 and Coastal Carolinas No. 16.

Bulldogs meet fans
The Citadel has posted video of Sunday's Meet the Bulldogs fan day.

* Palmetto outfielder Tory Allen has committed to play for Brevard
* West Ashley pitcher/catcher John Michael Gibbons has committed to play for Brevard.
