Tigers may go with Erwin
At least two Clemson-oriented Websites are reporting the Tigers play to start freshman left-hander Zack Erwin against Liberty in Friday's first game of the Columbia regional of the NCAA Tournament.
Erwin is 5-1 with a 3.30 earned-run average in 57 1/3 innings. He has made 21 appearances, including five starts.
That suggests the Tigers are saving staff ace Daniel Gossett (9-4, 2.53) for Saturday's second-round game against either South Carolina or St. Louis.
Freshman left-hander Matthew Crownover, who missed the ACC Tournament, is expected to be available for the weekend.
Pepicelli discusses regional
Clemson has posted a video with Don Munson talking with Tigers coach Dan Pepicelli talking about how he and the Tigers go about preparing for this weekend's NCAA regional in Columbia.
