USC, Clemson, Coastal pegged for NCAA field
PerfectGame.org has South Carolina as a regional host, Clemson as a No. 2 seed and Coastal Carolina as a three in its projection of the NCAA Tournament field if it were selected today.

Bertman honored
Former LSU coach Skip Bertman is one of four people being honored as Baseball Legends during the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala., May 21-26. Bertman led the Bayou Bengals to five College World Series titles. Others being honored include former Auburn coach Hal Baird, former Kentucky player Terry Shumper and ex-Missouri player and coach Gene McArtor.

* Clemson has posted a preview of its non-conference home series against Georgia Southern. Friday's start time has been pushed back from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. because of Clemson's graduattion.

* South Carolina has posted notes and video previewing its SEC home series against Georgia. Gamecocks coach Chad Holbrook indicated first baseman LB Dantzler (shoulder injury suffered Wednesday vs. Wofford) and outfielder Connor Bright (nagging shoulder issues) are expected to be on the dress list for the weekend. As in recent weekends, USC lists Nolan Belcher and Jordan Montgomery as starting pitchers for the first two games but does not list a starter for Game 3. Freshman Wynkoop has filled that role in recent weeks.

* College of Charleston has posted preview notes for its SoCon series against crosstown rival The Citadel.

* The Citadel has released its pre-series notes on the College of Charleston games.

* Western Carolina has posted its preview of a weekend home series against Wofford.

* UNC Greensboro has posted its preview of the SoCon weekend series at Furman. The Spartans are fighting to qualify for the SoCon Tournament, while Furman is trying to hold on to one of the eight coveted slots.

* Coastal Carolina has posted a preview of its Big South Conference series against UNC Asheville. If you're a fan of baseball early in the day, this series is for you. The Friday and Saturday games are set for noon and the Sunday game is set for 10 a.m. The Chanticleers are using the Myrtle Beach Pelicans' facility this season because of construction work on the school's on-campus facility.
