NEWS DIGEST, MARCH 26

Holbrook unsure of Greiner's status
South Carolina coach Chad Holbrook said after Tuesday's 4-2 win over College of Charleston that he would do all he could to keep from having to use catcher Grayson Greiner in Wednesday's game against Coastal Carolina. Greiner injured his left thumb during Sunday's game at Kentucky. He sat out the CofC game. Holbrook, who said the injury is similar to a bruise, indicated it's not certain that Greiner will be available for the Tennessee series this weekend.

Coker/Belmont Abbey game date uncertain
Coker and Belmont Abbey had a scheduled Tuesday doubleheader in Belmont postponed because on the weather. It was first announced one game would be made up Wednesday, but later Belmont Abbey issued a release that the Wednesday game was postponed because of a school policy prohibiting the rescheduling of athletic events during the academic week.

National notes
* Texas Augie Garrido became college baseball's winningest coach of all time as the Longhorns beat Texas State, 5-1, Tuesday night. He has 1,894, one more than former St. Francis coach Gordon Gillespie.

* Clemson and South Carolina have one of the most heated rivalries in college baseball, but Florida and Florida State showed there's no love lost between those teams. Both benches emptied in the eighth innings of the Gators' 4-1 victory Tuesday night after a collision at first base (link to video below). On a side note, it looks to me like the FSU player should have been called out for not running in the baseline. The Seminoles had a runner called out at Clemson last Saturday for running doing the same. I wonder if they're coached to do that.
