| Clemson improved to 8-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference by winning two games at Maryland over the weekend. The third game was canceled because of weather and field conditions. |
(Went 1-0 against Georgia; went 2-0 against Maryland)
Coming off a doubleheader loss at Florida State last Saturday, Clemson needed for something good to happen this week.
It did.
The Tigers routed Georgia in a midweek game, then won a pair of games at Maryland in a rain-shortened ACC series.
A good week in the standings also included some good things individually. Shane Kennedy, 2013's leading hitter, looks well on his way to regaining his form of a year ago after missing a month because of an injury suffered in the fall.
Clemson got offensive production up and down the lineup at Georgia, then got a pair of well-piitched games in the wins at Maryland. Daniel Gossett and Maryland ace Jake Stinnett hand a dandy pitchers' duel in Game 1, with Clemson scoring take to take the win.
Matthew Crownover pitched a four-hit complete game in the second game at Maryland.
Up next for the Tigers is a Friday-Sunday home series against a struggling N.C. State team that opened the season in the Top 5 nationally but is 3-9 in the ACC.
