Noteworthy tidbits
* Former Clemson star Brad Miller hit two home runs for the Seattle Mariners Tuesday. He has had 4 two-homer games to account for eight of his 10 big league homers.
* Davidson shut out Georgia Southern Sunday and Winthrop Tuesday. According to a Tweet by Davidson's athletics account, that marks the first time the Wildcats have shut out different opponents in consecutive games in the same week since 1906.
*North Carolina writer Bruce Winkworth tries to sort out the reasons for North Carolina State's 3-9 start in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Wolfpack visit Clemson Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Wolfpack
* Meanwhile, the Wolfpack's Carlos Rondon and Trea Tuner rank 1 & 5 in PerfectGame.org's midseason ranking of the top 50 pro prospects in college baseball. Clemson's Daniel Gossett (Byrnes High) and South Carolina's Grayson Greiner (Blythewood) apparently also are on the list based on keywords listed. I don't know, because I don't subscribe to PerfectGame.org's expanded service.
