Conference tournament seedings, schedules set

Clemson No. 5 seed in ACC
Clemson's dramatic 10-9 victory over Boston College Saturday kept the Tigers out of the play-in round and earned them the No. 5 seed for the ACC Tournament next week in Greensboro. They're in the same pool with Miami, Duke and the Wake Forest-Georgia Tech winner. The schedule will be announced later, probably Sunday.

USC No. 4 seed in SEC
South Carolina's 6-3 victory over Vanderbilt helped the Gamecocks clinch the No. 4 seed and a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament. The Gamecocks play the final game Wednesday against either Georgia or Mississippi State. Game time will likely be around 9:30 p.m.

Wofford avoid SoCon play-in game
Wofford's doubleheader sweep of Samford on Saturday pulled the Terriers into sixth place in the Southern Conference standings and got them out of the single-elimination play-in round on Tuesday. Furman, which suffered a gut-wrenching 6-5 loss to Appalachian State, finished eighth and will play UNC Greensboro in a single-elimination game to open the tournament at noon Tuesday. Host The Citadel finished 10th despite two late come-from-behind wins over UNC Greensboro on Saturday and will play Elon at 3:30 Tuesday in the second play-in game.

Winthrop takes South Division of Big South
Winthrop won the South Division championship and second seed overall for the Big South Conference Tournament behind Liberty by beating Longwood, 5-2. The Eagles will face No. 7 seed Charleston Southern to open the tournament at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Rock Hill. Coastal Carolina got the sixth seed and will play No. 3 Campbell after the Winthrop-CSU game.

College of Charleston second in CAA
William & Mary's 6-0 victory over College of Charleston to gain a split of Saturday's doubleheader denied the Cougars' bid to win the Colonial Athletic Association's regular-season title in their first year in the league. CofC will be the second seed for the league tournament next week in Wilmington, N.C. They will receive a first-round bye and play the winner of the UNC Wilmington-James Madison game at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
