Gamecocks named regional host

South Carolina on Sunday night was named one of 16 regional hosts for the first weekend of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The eight national seeds and regional assignments are to be made at noon Monday in a telecast on ESPNU

College of Charleston, automatic qualifier from the Colonial Athletic Association, will receive its regional assignment on Monday. Clemson is expected to receive an at-large bid, although some national websites still ranked the Tigers as borderline to be given a bid.
