Is Clemson trending out for at-large bid?

The NCAA announces the 64 teams for the Division I tournament at noon today (ESPNU), but the final projections by both Baseball America and PerfectGameUSA suggest Clemson's baseball players may have more fun watching "Inside Story: Caddyshack" on the Biography Channel.

Both websites (links below) project Clemson will be left out of the field.

I thought the 2-0 start to the ACC Tournament, including a win over a hot Miami team, was enough to seal a bid for the Tigers.

Aaron Fitt of Baseball America writes he heard the selection committee was "not impressed" with the ACC this season.

Liberty's failure to win the Big South Conference Tournament could have hurt Clemson's hopes, too. The Big South was expected to be a one-bid league. Since Campbell won the automatic bid, Liberty was thrown into the pool of at-large candidates. It's a little bit of a stretch, but if Clemson was the last team out, the Tigers could blame Liberty for spoiling things for a second straight year. The Flames beat Clemson twice in the Columbia regional last season.

If Clemson is selected for the tournament, is there any way the Tigers would avoid being a No. 3 seed? I don't know the whole process for seeding, but I don't understand a bubble team could be a No. 2.

Both Baseball America and College of Charleston project CAA champ College of Charleston will be a No. 3 seed.

If Clemson gets in and, like College of Charleston, is a No. 3 seed, that would mean there's no way both would be assigned to the Columbia regional.

While South Carolina knows it will be a regional host, I don't see any way the Gamecocks are named one of the eight national seeds unless the Selection Committee was dozing Wednesday and Thursday when USC had its latest SEC Tournament meltdown.

I'll be tied up on family business when the tournament field is announced. I'll share my reaction later today.
