Gamecocks tumble in projections
South Carolina's weekend series loss at Georgia knocked it out of a national seed for the NCAA Tournament in Baseball America's latest Stock Report assessment of the potential 64-team field. The Gamecocks are rated as "on the bubble - out" for a national seed and "on the bubble - in" for one of the other eight host spots. Clemson is deemed "on the bubble - in" for an NCAA berth.

Fire Ants host district
USC Sumter's victory over Louisburg to win the NJCAA Region 10 tournament championship also earned the Fire Ants the host role for the Eastern District tournament May 16-18. Region 10 regular-season champion Spartanburg Methodist and the winners of Region 15 (lower New York) and Region 20 (Maryland, western Pennsylvania and West Virginia) will compete in the double-elimination event.

ASA College and Monroe will play a three-game series for the Region 15 title beginning Friday.  Four teams will play in a double-elimination tournament to determine the Region 20 champion beginning Friday in Bel Air, Md.

The district champion advances to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. Spartanburg Methodist won the Eastern District last year.
