Catamounts picked to win SoCon
Western Carolina is the choice to win the Southern Conference baseball championship in votes by league coaches and media.

Coaches pick Furman to finish sixth and The Citadel and Wofford to finish in a tie for seventh.

The media vote pegs The Citadel for sixth, Furman for seventh and Wofford for eighth.

Ohmstede preseason all-SoCon
Furman third baseman Chris Ohmstede was the only player from a South Carolina school to be named first-team preseason all-Southern Conference in voting by league coaches.

Furman, The Citadel and Wofford had two second-team selections apiece. Furman's were outfielder Jake Jones and designated hitter Jarrod Rickman. The Citadel's were pitcher Skylar Hunter and shortstop Johnathan Stokes and Wofford's were pitcher Matthew Milburn and outfielder James Plaisted.
