PalmettoStateBaseball.com team of the week, March 16-22: Francis Marion

Francis Marion (5-0 for the week)
(went 2-0 vs. Virginia State; went 3-0 vs. Young Harris)

It's hard enough to win five straight baseball games at home in one week. It's even harder to win five straight road games.

That's what coach Art Inabinet's Francis Marion Patriots did this week, and they did it in extraordinary fashion.

FMU outscored its opponents 79-28 and went 97-for-222 (.437) in the five wins.

The Patriots had 25 hits in a 19-2 win over Virginia State on Tuesday and followed that with 20 hits in s 14-10 win the next day.

They added 25 hits in the 24-3 rout of Young Harris in the opener of a doubleheader and 15 hits in a 13-6 win in the nightcap.

On Sunday, FMU had only 12 hits in a 9-7 victory. Maybe all the players were too worn out from running the bases earlier in the week.
