Cougars headline CAA awards
Blake Butler was named player of the year and defensive player of the year, Taylor Clarke was named pitcher of the year and Monte Lee was voted coach of the year as College of Charleston dominated the individual awards as part of the Colonial Athletic Association postseason awards.

Butler, Clarke and teammates Brandon Glazer and Carl Wise were first-team all-CAA selections. Cougars named second-team all-CAA were Bradley Jones, Carter Love, Nick Pappas and Alex Pastorius. Erven Roper was a second-team choice, while Love and Ryan Brown made the all-freshman team.

Former Spartanburg Methodist players Zach Shields and Kennard McDowell of UNC Wilmington was first- and third-team picks, respectively.

Former pitchers Randy Corn and Mike Pendleton have been selected for induction into The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame.

JuCo World Series field filled
Delgado CC of New Orleans beat St. Louis CC, 9-6, Tuesday to fill the 10th slot in the NJCAA College World Series beginning Saturday in Grand Junction, Colo. USC Sumter plays defending national champion Iowa Western at 5 p.m. Friday in a first-round game in the double-elimination event.
