Clemson junior catcher Chris Okey is the only player from a South Carolina school on the preseason watch list for the 2016 Golden Spikes Award. USA Baseball gives the award annually to the top amateur baseball player in the USA.  Okey has been mentioned on several preseason all-American squads.

Coastal's Sunday game time changed
The starting time for Coastal Carolina's Sunday game against defending national champion Virginia in the Caravelle Resort Tournament has been moved ahead an hour to 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on the Internet via ESPN3.

USC's Parke reported out for season
University of South Carolina left-hander John Parke will miss the 2016 season with an elbow injury.  Ann MRI revealed an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament of the left elbow. Surgery is scheduled for Thursday. A junior from Greenville, Parker had a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA in 9 1/3 innings over 11 appearances last season.
