The (Baton Rouge) Advocate reports the Southeastern Conference is accepting bids to host the league baseball tournament and New Orleans is among several cities expressing interest.

The tournament has been held in Hoover, Ala., a suburb of Birmingham, for the last 18 seasons and will be there again this May.

Memphis, Nashville and Orlando are among others expected to consider placing a bid. As many as a dozen cities may be under consideration, and Hoover is still in play to keep the event, an unnamed source told The Advocate.

Other southern cities with minor-league parks - Jacksonville, Montgomery and Duluth, Ga., to name a few -- have expressed interest in the event in the past.

LSU fans typically provide a large percentage of the attendance in Hoover and likely would dominate even more in New Orleans.
