D1Baseball.com handed out its midseason laurels this week and state schools fared well.
* Clemson outfielder Seth Beer was named midseason freshman of the year and player of the year.
* Tigers coach Monte Lee was named midseason coach of the year.
* Beer and South Carolina pitcher Clarke Schmidt were named to the midseason all-American team.
* Clemson was named one of the midseason "surprise" teams.
* Clemson, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston and USC were mentioned in the resurgence of the Carolinas being one of the year's top story lines so far.
