Clemson, Coastal Carolina, USC recognized has posted its midseason awards for NCAA Division I. It has Clemson outfielder Seth Beer and its midseason freshman of the year and player of the year. South Carolina's Chad Holbrook is the midseason coach of the year pick.

Beer is joined on the midseason first-team all-America squad by USC starting pitcher Clarke Schmidtt, Gamecocks closer Josh Reagan and Coastal Carolina reliever Mike Morrison.

My friend Todd Shanesy of The Herald-Journal in Spartanburg has a feature on North Greenville University's John Leopard, a former Spartanburg Methodist College player who leads Conference Carolinas in saves.
