Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, March 28-April 3: USC Sumter

USC Sumter (5-1 for the week)
(Went 2-0 vs. Belmont Abbey JV; went 3-1 vs. USC Lancaster)

The Fire Ants have been worthy of team of the week honors for the last several weeks, but were edged out by other teams.

This week, it's USC Sumter with the edge. The Fire Ants stretched their winning streak to 14 games overall and 10 games in NJCAA Region 10 play before losing Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with USC Lancaster.

Sumter bounced back Sunday with a doubleheader sweep, improving their Region 10 record to 13-3. The Fire Ants have won 12 of 13 league games after a 1-2 start

USCS has a two-game lead over second-place Spartanburg Methodist with 12 games (three weekends) left in league play.
