Chanticleers punch their ticket

Two weeks  ago, Coastal Carolina fans were expressing their frustration and disappointment over not being one of 16 regional host in the NCAA baseball playoffs.

Today, they're celebrating the school's first-ever trip to the College World Series.

Coastal Carolina's exciting 4-3 win over LSU in Baton Rouge Sunday night wrapped up a 2-0 sweep of the Super Regional.

LSU, the designated visitor on Sunday, had tied the score at 3-3 and had the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, but could not push the go-ahead run across.

Anthony Marks singled, stole second and scored on Michael Paez's bouncer over the third baseman's head to end the game.

Coach Gary Gilmore's Chanticleers have shown a flair for the dramatic in their NCAA run.

They were down to their last out in the Raleigh Regional before rallying for a 7-5 win in the championship game against N.C. State.

Well done, Chanticleers.
