College baseball fans get the shaft

I can't believe the national championship game in college baseball is going to be played at a time when so few people will be able to to watch it.

In case you haven't heard, the rain-delayed final game of the College World Series championship series between Coastal Carolina and Arizona will be played at 1:08 p.m. Eastern Time Thursday in Omaha.

Preliminary reports also suggested the game would air on ESPNNews, which is on far fewer cable systems than ESPN or ESPN2. Early Thursday, it was announced the game would be on ESPNU. That will make it available to a few more folks.

In addition to college baseball fans nationwide, the NCAA is thumbing its nose at all those working folks in Omaha who bought tickets for a night game and can't miss work on such short notice.

I have the luxury of being retired, so I'll be able to follow the game on satellite radio (hopefully) while I'm honoring other commitments.

I understand that college baseball is nowhere near as popular as college football or college basketball, but the Arizona and Coastal Carolina players and college baseball fans deserve to be treated better than this.
