Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, March 6-12: USC Aiken

USC Aiken (3-1 for the week)
(beat St. Rose; went 2-1 vs. No. 1 Nova Southeastern)

USC Aiken did some outside-the-box thinking on its non-conference scheduling and reaped big rewards, taking two of three games from Nova Southeastern, the top-ranked team in NCAA Division II.

Coach Kenny Thomas' Pacers are no slouches - they're No. 3 in the NCBWA poll - and they showed they're worthy of being ranked among the national elite. They came within one out in Saturday's series finale of getting a sweep.

The Pacers (18-4) play host to Emmanuel on Wednesday, then put their 6-0 Peach Belt Conference record on the line in a weekend series at Columbus State.
