Fred Jordan retires after 26 seasons at The Citadel

Fred Jordan, who has the most baseball wins in Southern Conference history, on Thursday announced his retirement as The Citadel coach after 26 seasons.

Jordan, a 1979 graduate of The Citadel had an 831-708 record, including 399 wins in SoCon play.

His teams won 30 or more games 18 times, including 43 wins in 2010.  Seven Jordan-coached teams qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs lost to VMI Tuesday in the play-in game of the SoCon Tournament and finished the season with a 16-35 record.
