Earlier this month, Benedict's baseball team stole the 2,000th base during Selwyn Young's eight-plus season tenure as head coach.
The Tigers have led NCAA Division II in stolen bases six times and also hold several game and season records for steals.
Benedict is idle until a March 3 home doubleheader against Bluefield State.
