Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, Feb. 5-11: Southern Wesleyan

Southern Wesleyan (4-0 for the week)
(went 1-0 vs. Mars Hill; went 3-0 at Trinity Baptist)

Southern Wesleyan won 15 games in 2017 in its first full season of NCAA Division II memberership. The fifth win of the season didn't come until March 8. Coach Mike Gillespie's Warriors are putting themselves in position for better things this year. They followed a midweek win over Mars Hill with a three-game sweep at Trinity Baptist to move to 5-2 on the season.

Southern Wesleyan hit .343 for the weekend, with 17 of 35 hits going for extra bases. The Warriors return to action Wednesday at Anderson.

Update: The SWU baseball Twitter account reports the team bus broke down en route home from Jacksonville, delaying the return until 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
