College of Charleston (5-0 for the week)
(went 1-0 vs. LIU Brooklyn, went 1-0 vs. Georgia Southern, went 3-0 vs. Georgia)
It was a good week for College of Charleston coach Chad Holbrook. His son Reece, who battled leukemia as a small child, committed to play baseball for the University of North Carolina.
Then, the Cougars wrapped up a 5-0 week with a three-game sweep of Georgia. School officials report it's the first-ever three-game sweep of a "Power 5" conference school.
One bit of irony: Georgia won the season series over South Carolina during Holbrook's final four seasons as Gamecocks coach. That lack of success against an SEC East foe contributed to Holbrook's being available when the CofC job became open.
The Cougars return to action Tuesday at nationally ranked East Carolina.
