Jacob Hennessy pitched a career-long 7 1/3 innings and No. 10 Clemson (17-5, 4-3) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory at No. 11 Louisville (17-5, 3-4) in the opener of an ACC series. 
Kyle Wilkie's two-run double put Clemson up in the second put Clemson ahead. Drew Wharton, who had three hits, drove in the other Tiger run in the fourth.
Elsewhere:
* Matt Eardensohn pitched 4 2/3 innings of one-hit shutout relief and Matt Beaird singled,  homered and drove in two runs as Coastal Carolina (17-7, 4-0) beat Texas State. 8-0, to open a Sun Belt Conference series.
* College of Charleston (17-6) opened Colonial Athletic Association play with a 5-1 victory over William & Mary. Dupree Hart had three hits, a stolen base and an RBI for the Cougars. Evan Sisk and Nathan Ocker combined for a four--hitter.
* South Carolina (13-9, 1-3) struggled on the mound, in the field and at the plate in dropping a 7-5 decision at Georgia (16-6, 3-1) in the opener of an SEC series. Normal Friday starting pitcher Adam Hill was unavailable because of shoulder/arm tenderness. Spot starter John Gilreath fell behind 2-0 before the Gamecocks scored five runs on six hits in the third. But Carolina got just two hits the rest of the way and Georgia rallied with three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. Noah Campbell had two hits and a walk for the Gamecocks.
* Dylan Spence pitched a six-hit complete game as The Citadel (10-11, 1-0) opened Southern Conference play with a 5-1 victory over struggling Western Carolina (2-18). Jonathan Sabo had two hits and drove in two runs for the Bulldogs.
* Presbyterian (6-17, 1-3)  snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 7-4 victory over Charleston Southern (6-16, 0-4) in a Big South Conference series opener at Clinton. Jack McLaughlin hit a three-run homer to lead PC. Derek Horton had three hits and drove in two runs for Charleston Southern.
* Winthrop (11-13, 5-0) swept a Big South Conference home doubleheader with Longwood, 4-3 and 8-0. Jake Sullivan's two-run homer gave the Eagles the lead for good in the opener. Zach Peek pitched a three-hit, eight-strikeout complete game in the nightcap. He was supported by Grant English, who singled, doubled, triples and drove in three runs. Mitch Spires had four hits and scored three times.
* Wofford (15-8, 0-1) suffered a 7-5 loss at Mercer (18-5, 1-0) in the opener of a Southern Conference series. Colin Davis doubled, tripled and homered for the Terriers.
* Blake Whitney stuck out 12 batters in eight innings and left with a three-run lead, but Dayton rallied for a 6-5 victory at USC Upstate (11-11-1).
* Furman (13-9) was limited to two hits in an 11-1 loss at No. 26 Wichita State to open a nonconference series.
* USC Aiken (18-9) scored three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to rally for a 7-4 victory over No. 9 Columbus State (22-3) to open a Peach Belt Conference series at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. Nile Goings had three doubles for the Pacers.
* Matt Orth homered in each game as Limestone (13-15) swept a Conference Carolinas doubleheader at Barton, 7-2 and 6-5. His second-inning blast in the final inning broke a 4-4 tie.
* Connor Grant homered twice and drove in four runs as North Greenville (25-5) opened a Conference Carolinas series at Southern Wesleyan (12-18) with an 11-3 victory.
* Evan Estridge pitched a complete game as Newberry (14-14) took an 8-3 victory over Coker (11-15) in the opener of a South Atlantic Conference series in Newberry. Five Wolves players had two hits apiece.
* Austin Mapes' eighth-inning double broke a tie score and lifted Erskine (20-9) to a 4-2 victory over Georgia Southwestern in the opener of a nonconference series.
* An eight-run eighth inning was the difference as Lander (8-18, 2-11 was a 14-6 winner over Francis Marion (12-17, 5-11) in Peach Belt Conference play at Dolny Stadium in Greenwood. Bailey Connell, Conner Davis and Nathan Schreckengost had three hits apiece for the Bearcats.
* Voorhees (3-9) split a doubleheader with Concordia of Selma. The Tigers won the opener 9-5 and dropped Game 2, 14-13. Rodney Goldsmith had five hits and five RBIs on the day while Darrius England had four hits and and five RBIs. The teams play two again Saturday in Denmark. Concordia officials announced earlier this month that the school will close at the end of the semester.
