Wrapping up Saturday's S.C. college baseball action, March 17

South Carolina (13-6) hit four home runs and got a solid start from Cody Morris to beat Florida, 15-7, Saturday and even their SEC series at 1-1.

The Gamecocks got a leadoff inside-the-park home run from Noah Campbell to open the first and were never headed. Campbell originally was called out at home plate, but the call was reverses on appeal. Madison Stokes added a two-run homer later in the inning.

The Gators (17-4) cut the score to 4-2, but USC scored five runs in the fifth to push its lead to 9-2.

After second-ranked Florida had pulled within 9-6, Hunter Taylor and Jacob Olson hit back-to-back homers in a sixth-run eighth as the Gamecocks pulled away.

Morris struck out 10 Gators in 5 1/3 innings. Five relievers followed against Florida, which also hit four homers.

Jonah Bride had three doubles for USC, which had 16 hits.

Stokes, USC's leading hitter, left the game with a bruised hand after being hit by a pitch.

The series concludes at 1 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU.

Elsewhere:
* N.C. State (17-3, 4-1) clinched an ACC series victory at Clemson (16-3, 3-2)  with a  6-1 victory at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Wolfpack scored single runs in five straight innings to erase a 1-0 Clemson lead taken on a Kyle Wilkie RBI single in the second. The Tigers left the bases loaded in the second, and that missed opportunity came back to cost them.

The  Tigers outhit the Wolfpack, 9-8, with Wilkie and Robert Jolly getting two hits apiece. Evan Edwards of N.C. State hit the game's only home run.

The series concludes at 1 p.m. today.

* Coastal Carolina (14-7) scored in its first eight innings -- including 10 in the fourth -- to rip Arkansas State, 26-14, and clinch a series victory in its first Sun Belt Conference set of the.year. Kevin Woodall had two home runs and drove in six runs for the Chanticleers, who had 17 hits and drew 18 walks. The 30 combined walks between the two pitching staffs were the second-most in NCAA Division I history. Kyle Skeels had four hits and Keaton Rivers drove in five runs for Coastal.

* College of Charleston (15-5) shut out Kansas State for the second straight day, this time 6-0 on a combined effort by Griffin McLarty (7 IP) and Nathan Ocker (2 IP). Logan McRae had three hits and two walks for the Cougars, scoring three runs and driving in two. McRae and Ari Sechopoulos hit home runs.

* Wofford (13-6) pushed its winning streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep of Siena, 10-4, and 12-6.  The Terriers had 27 hits -- 13 of them for extra bases -- on the day. The five triples in the second game set a school record for a game. McClain Bradley went 6-for-10 on the day, including a triple in each game.

* Winthrop (7-13) hammered Presbyterian (5-15) for the second straight day, this time 14-2 to clinch a Big South Conference series victory. The Blue Hose scored twice in the first inning, but were shut out the rest of the way. The Eagles had 10 hits and coaxed a like number of walks from PC pitchers.  Tyler Halstead had three hits and Dillon Morton drove in three runs for Winthrop. Presbyterian has lost nine straight games.

*  Sims Griffith's eighth-inning double broke a 6-6 tie and Furman (13-7) beat Harvard, 8-6, to take a 3-1 series victory. Ben Anderson was 4-for-5 and hit his third home run of the series. Griffith had three of Furman's 15 hits.

* USC Upstate (10-8-1) scored six runs in the sixth and went on to a 12-7 win over Ohio. The Spartans took a 4-0 lead in the first, only to have the Bobcats rally to go ahead 5-4 going into the sixth Kyle Gensler had three hits and six teammates had two hits apiece for Upstate.

*  First-place North Greenville (22-5, 10-2) completed a series sweep of Conference Carolinas foe King (15-9, 6-6) with wins of 3-1 and 6-3 in Tigerville. The Crusaders were held to five hits in the opener, with Eric Gilbert and Connor Grant getting two apiece. In the nightcap, Alex Williams homered and John Jones and Jack Morris had two hits apiece.

*  Newberry (13-13) swept Lincoln Memorial (17-9), 11-1 and 2-0, in South Atlantic Conference play to claim a 2-1 series victory. The Wolves scored 10 runs over the first four innings of the opener, while they rode a complete-game four-hitter by Ryan Harbin in Game 2. Colin Allman drove in both runs for the Newberry, which was held to three hits.

*  Erskine (19-7) outlasted Barton (9-20), 13-12, to complete a three-game sweep in Conference Carolinas play. The visitors scored two runs in the first, only to have Erskine score five in the bottom of the inning. Each team scored in seven innings, with Isaiah Lewis breaking a 12-12 with his eighth-inning single. The Flying Fleet outhit Barton, 18-13, as Trevor Wood had four hits and Chase Watts added three.

* USC Aiken (16-8) scored three runs in the eighth held on for a 5-4 victory at Georgia Southwestern (4-17) to even the Peach Belt Conference series at 1-1. Nile Goings drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

* Claflin (7-18) completed a three-game sweep of Lane (0-17) with a five-run eighth to claim a 13-12 victory at Mirmow Field in Orangeburg as the teams completed their first SIAC series of the season. Darrell Langston and two triples for the Panthers, who scored their final four runs on a bases-loaded walk and three wild pitches. Claflin has won five of its last six games after a 2-17 start.

* David White singled, homered and drove in two runs with Benedict (7-6) opened SIAC play with a 5-2 win over Tuskegee (4-14) in Columbia. Jacob Lagos struck out six batters in seven innings to get the win.

*  Coker (11-13, 1-2) split a SAC doubleheader with nationally ranked Wingate (20-7, 9-3), scoring on a wild pitch in the eighth inning of the opener to win, 10-9, before falling in Game 2. 8-5.

* Lander (6-17, 1-10) fell to No. 5 Columbus State (20-2, 7-0) for the second straight day, 8-3, in a Peach Belt Conference road series. The Bearcats have lost 12 of their last 13 games.

* Limestone (11-15, 3-6) was roughed up for double figures in runs by No. 13 Bemont Abbey (24-5, 12-3) for the third straight game. this time 10-3 in the finale of a Conference Carolinas series.

*  Spartanburg Methodist ((14-13, 3-3) evened its NJCAA Region 10 record with wins over 11-3 and 7-3 over USC Salkehatchie (15-14, 4-2) at Mooneyham Field in Spartanburg. The Pioneers had three home runs among their 12 hits in the opener and went deep two more times in the nightcap.

* FD Tech (10-8) opened Region 10 play with victories of 13-1 and 8-0 at USC Union (5-13, 0-6).

* USC Sumter (18-9, 5-1) and USC Lancaster (11-10, 1-5) split a Region 10 doubleheader. The Fire Ants won the opener, 5-1, with the Lancers taking Game 2, 7-5.
